Don’t play when you’re not tired
The tricky thing with the weekend league, in FUT Champions, is having the pressure of squeezing in 30 games EVERY weekend. This means that, even if you’re feeling a bit tired, after work, school or college/university, or whatever it may be, if you don’t play on Friday, you’re likely going to have to spent the majority of Saturday AND Sunday playing games. If you’re a pro player, that’s not a problem. For the average gamer though, it is.
Here’s what you can do: Play your games in batches of 3 or 4, then take a break. We did some extensive research, in our FIFA 19 GAMEPLAY GUIDE, which focuses on attention span and the reduced concentration levels and reaction times so if this interests you, you can click the link above to find out more. By only playing 3 or 4 games, then taking a break to have a drink or to walk the dog (or whatever relaxes you or takes your mind off gaming for a while) this will allow you to refocus and then go again, giving you more chance of getting better results.
Something you’ll often hear commentators saying on TV. What this means is, breaking the game into smaller chunks. The first 10-15 minutes of EVERY FUT Champions weekend league game is crucial to your success. Go 1 v 0 down or even worse 2 v 0 down, and it’s a long road back to winning the game. It’s important to focus fully, keep compact and don’t give the ball away cheaply in these first moments. Give yourself a chance to suss out your opponent. By doing this you can assess their style and make a decision about how to manage the game going forward into the latter stages.
Being adaptable is crucial to your success. You’ll face about 4 or 5 main types of players so it’s really important that you can quickly change your style to counteract theirs. If you can’t and you struggle against a certain type of player then you’re already at a huge disadvantage AND the likelihood is that the other player will be adaptable and will change to beat your style. Experiment in other game modes to improve this area.
