Learn how to improve your defending against skill moves on FIFA 16 with our original defensive tips. EA Sports introduced the several new attacking features for FIFA 16 so make sure you get to grips with these changes right here to ensure you aren’t conceding lots of goals.
With EA Sports changing how skill moves are performed in FIFA 15 we saw an increase in opposition players attempting to use skill moves and this will only become more and more as people become more at ease with using them. Below are the basic tips we’ll provide that will help you defend against skill.
Don’t dive in
The worst thing you can do against a ‘skiller’ is to dive into tackles in a rash manner. If you do this, it will play right into the hands of the opposition and they’ll be able to skip around your defenders with ease. You also run the risk of fouling in dangerous areas and/or picking up yellow/red cards.
Jockey or contain
Now you don’t HAVE to use the jockey or contain buttons here. Just simple staying patient and tracking the attackers run is perfectly fine. However, if you hold the jockey button it will place your defenders into a side on, defensive position which is the position coached by top defensive coaches around the world. You can sprint whilst in this jockey position too so that’s not an issue. Try to keep a 3-5 yard distance (relative to the pitch dimensions of course) between the goal and the attacker.
Force to pass
The last thing a skill player wants to do is pass or cross the ball. There are a couple of reasons for this. 1) They are most likely more comfortable using skill moves and 2) they might have a weakness in heading or moving the ball around to keep possession very well. Therefore, by frustrating them when they are trying skill moves, this will force them to play in a way they aren’t comfortable with.
We hope you found these FIFA 16 defending against skill moves tips useful and you can put them into practice and help to stop conceding as many goals on FIFA 16. For our more advanced defending tips complete with detailed diagrams then please read below.
